Valley Oak Bonsai #842

Growing up in Mendocino County, Northern California, Eric spent a lot of time around native Oaks. He has carried a love for them throughout his bonsai career, and is delighted to offer Valley Oak pre-bonsai! 

Valley Oak or Quercus lobata is an amazing species for bonsai development. It grows quickly and develops thick, craggy bark. In the wild, branches have an irregular, spreading and arching appearance that can produce a spooky, rugged winter silhouette. Imagine the silhouette you could develop with this pre-bonsai! Deciduous, the leaves turn a yellow to light orange color in Autumn. While the leaves are naturally large, they can be reduced through bonsai care.

Valley Oaks like hot conditions during summer and are also quite thirsty, needing a good source of water.
