Monterey Cypress Bonsai #1322

Monterey Cypress, Hesperocyparis macrocarpa, is an iconic California native found naturally along the rugged coast of the Monterey Peninsula. This species is known for its bright green, scale-like foliage, fresh citrusy fragrance, and vigorous growth. Its windswept, sculpted forms along the coastline make it a natural inspiration for dramatic bonsai design.

While still uncommon in bonsai, Monterey Cypress shows strong potential thanks to its resilience, fast growth, and tendency to develop interesting trunk movement over time. As it matures, the bark gains texture and character, adding to its long-term appeal as a bonsai subject.
