Japanese Hornbeam (Carpinus japonica) are a deciduous species, with elongated and ribbed leaves, similar to Korean hornbeam, but more vigorous.

These starters are in 3.5" nursery containers, with trunks about 1/4", and from 12-18" of growth.  Most have multiple strong shoots. Trunks have been previously wired (wire already removed.)

Healthy little plant

It arrived quickly and thoughtfully packaged to keep the soil in place. I planted it out into my garden, noting the well-developed root system that was not root-bound in the pot. So far, it’s still looking good in the ground, even after I pruned back some of the leader.

Excellent tree. Great sense of movement in it’s appearance

I'veBeen buying seedings and starters for bonsai for many years, and they are all overpriced and small, these plants are beautifully healthy, and very good value

The second hornbeam this year. It’s a healthy tree as usual and the foliage right now hear near seattle is pretty nice.

Beautiful tree. I’ve bought quite a few from several sources, this material was far superior. Movement, foliage, growth even the stout feel of the leaf itself side by side comparison really is no comparison.
