Japanese Black Pine Bonsai: eCourse Companion Bundle
This companion kit to the JBP eCourse provides you with trees and materials that you can use to jump-start your journey to creating great shohin Japanese Black Pine bonsai!
The Kit includes:
- Three x 2-3year old JBP seedlings in 3.3" nursery containers. The stock comes from our favorite seed source in Alameda!
- Three x 1 - gallon size fabric grow bags. (we like them better than baskets or gallons!)
- Time Release granular fertilizer - 100 day application interval.
- One 400g Roll of 2.0mm or 2.5mm or 3.0mm Aluminum wire for bending trunks
Note: This bundle does NOT include access to the eCourse itself. The course guides you through all the steps that you need to take to create an informal upright shohin (8"/20cm) Japanese Black Pine bonsai. Eric has been growing pines for over 20 years and shares all the steps that it takes to make a show quality tree from scratch. Whether you want to start from seed yourself, or skip a couple early years by using this kit, the course will get you there!
I ordered this companion bundle as a gift for my mom after she saw some of the other starters I order from bonsaify a few weeks ago. She’s a beginner and hasn’t tried bonsai before and found the course to be very informative and useful. We sat together and watched the videos while we worked on the plants and it was an amazing experience.
The plants are shipped very securely and quickly. I’m honestly shocked at how well they pack these little babies. Not a single needle, leaf, or even a speck of soil out of place. Additionally, each plant is in AMAZING health. They really know what they’re doing over here.

I bought the pine e-course and companion. The trees I received seem healthy. One of the pines is in a taller pot/has longer roots so I can do an exposed root bonsai. It will be a fun project.
My 3 Japanese Black Pines, grow bags and wire arrived in great shape. I was excited to see everything in great condition, one never knows the condition things will be in after shipping. I also purchased Eric’s online e course for growing Shohin Japanese Black Pine course. I have started this course and it is excellent.

I purchased this course at the beginning of the year and it has been very helpful and full of information. The trees were full of life and packaged with care. I like that I can go back to the course and watch the videos over and over again so I can enhance my black pines skills and comprehension.
