Made of a dark clay body, splashed with a bit of wood ash and sand to give a rough texture on the upper wall and rim; then reduction fired.

Thomas Arakawa was born and raised in Japan, and came to the United States at the age of 19. For Thomas, the process of making pottery is affirmation of his Japanese heritage and American influences.
