Dwarf Weeping Willow Starter

Weeping willow can be a wonderful plant to start with as a beginner. Fast growth and copious branching lend themselves to a good learning experience. As a larger bonsai willow can be challenging to maintain, but there are some great examples out there.

These starters are "Yatsabusa Willow" (Salix babylonica 'Yatsubusa')which is smaller than a typical weeping willow. They are 2 years from cutting, in 3.3" nursery containers. 

The photos are representative but not the actual tree you will receive.

Care tips: Immersing the bottom 1/4 of the container in water will lead to faster more reliable growth and less chance of dieback. Let shoots run to 12" or so, then wire just the base of the shoot to make it weep. When new shoots come out near the top repeat the process.

Propagate your own! Willows are among the easiest plants to propagate - take offcuts and sit them in a glass container and watch the roots emerge!
