Shohin Japanese Black Pine
This Japanese Black pine, originally started by Jonas Dupuich of "Bonsai Tonight", is just approaching maturity. With one major scar that is completely healed, and a trunk that is 2.5" diameter, this is an impressive addition to any small-tree collection.
Height - 7" to top of current long needles.
Root spread - 5" side to side, 4" front to back.
Trunk girth - 2.5"
Pot - Chinese 7" x 9" outside dimensions.
Care
Japanese black pine are among the best-documented species for care. Early spring repotting, summer decandling and fall pruning have the combined effect of creating compact and dense foliage. Protect roots from temperatures below 30 degrees F. Full sun for 10-14 hours per day is ideal during the growing season (March or April-November) Black pine are not well-adapted to indoor growing.
